Why This MCC Matters
Car rental desks may place temporary holds for damage deposits, fuel, tolls, or late-return adjustments before the final amount settles. That can create problems for cards with tight balances, weak hold support, or unclear issuer rules around delayed capture.
What To Verify Before Paying
Check that the card issuer supports merchants that finalize the amount after the first authorization, and make sure the available balance can cover both the quoted rental and any extra hold the merchant may place.
